Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are eligible for a free mandatory Covid-19 screening test. Due to the delayed process, thousands of outlanders are deserted in hotels.
With an option of paying Php4,000 (around Php303) the outlanders from Filipino will get their test results in two days without being struck in Manila.
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has halted conducting the tests owing to debt of Php930 million (Dh70.57 million) by government health insurer Phil health.
The latest advisory states that the front liners-the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is now the In Charge of the screening tests and listed out the testing options for the returning Filipino outlanders. Covid-19 tests are done by the private laboratories, pricing from Php4,000 (Dh303) to Php10,000 (Dh758).
The ones who chose the Php4,000 option will get their results in two days, Php7,000 in a day and Php10,000 in about twelve hours.
The PRC is carrying out tests in a price range of Php3,500 for OFWs and non-OFWs the range would be Php4,000 and the test results are to be expected in a period of two to three days.
The PCG retold that the free tests are available for OFWs with the current processing system in the laboratories may take at least five days also the outlanders should prepare to wait with patience.
The outlanders were assured by PCG that they won’t have to pay for their
meals and extended stay in hotels during quarantine.
